Step 1. The DMV Review Request, signed approval to run your driver's license in our raptor
system, the signed letter of acceptance of Safe Driving Practices, a
photo copy of your California driver's License, a current copy of your vehicle
registration, and a photo copy of your vehicle insurance Declaration page from your
policy as explained in Step 2 shall be turned in to The Transportation Department,
Building H, 27380 Hwy 18, Lake Arrowhead, CA 92325.
Step 2. Per board policy AR 6153. If you are driving your personal vehicle to transport students, attach a copy of your current vehicle insurance policy that MUST MEET the minimum coverage requirements below:
- Public Liability: Bodily Injury $100,000/$300,000 Per accident
- Property Damage: $50,000 per accident
- Medical Payment 5,000
- In the event of an accident, the first liability would be incurred by you and
your own insurance company. Following this, the school district's insurance
would satisfy a judgment in excess of that provided by your auto insurance
company.
- The vehicle must be designed for and carry not more than 9 seated
passengers (including the driver). The number of passengers to be
transported in any one vehicle shall not be more than the legally permissible
number of passengers deemed appropriate for the vehicle and cannot
exceed nine (9) passengers including the driver. All passengers must have a
seat belt and driver is responsible to make sure all occupants are securely
fastened with seat belts always.
- No financial charge/cost will be made to the district for student
transportation by private vehicle.
Step 3. Following the clearance of the above items, the Governing Board approval is required prior to transporting students as an Approved Driver. You will be notified once the process has been completed and you are approved. Approved Drivers will be allowed to transport students as a driver for school field trips, school extra-curricular activities, and school athletic events.
